Do I Need a Website?

That’s a good question. Yes, if you have a business, you should have a website. Period. No question. Without a doubt so don’t be too quick to dismiss your need for a quality website. Nowadays, there’s very little that can’t be sold or marketed via the Internet. There are millions of shoppers online, purchasing or researching everything from books to computers to cars to real estate to jet airplanes.

This is not to say you should put all your efforts into selling on the Internet, but if your product lends itself to easy online sales, this is a revenue source you can not overlook. My point is you should at least have a presence on the web so customers, potential employees, business partners and perhaps even investors can quickly and easily find out more about you, your business and all you have to offer.

Taking all of this into account it’s not enough you just having a website. I can’t stress enough you must have a professional, functional and error free site if you want to be taken seriously . Since many consumers now search for information online prior to making a purchase at a brick-and-mortar store, your site may be the first and only chance you have at making a good impression on a potential buyer. If your site looks like it was designed by a colorblind chimp, we all know “You never get a second chance to make a first impression”

The Internet has given everyone a tremendous advantage, the Internet has leveled the playing field so the little guy can compete with the big boys. But as I have mentioned earlier, you have but one chance at making a good first impression. With a professionally designed site, the smallest of businesses can project the image and professionalism of a much larger company. Don’t forget the opposite is also true. We all have seen big company websites so badly designed and hard to navigate they completely lacked any form of professionalism or credibility.

Your Business may be a small operation, but when it comes to having a website, size does not matter. it does not matter if you’re a “Mom & Pop” Shop or a multimillion dollar corporate giant; if you don’t have a website, you are potentially losing business to other companies that do.

There is an exception to the rule: It’s better not to have website than to have one and it makes your business look bad. Your website speaks volumes about you and your business. The visitors first impression will be, “We value you and your business so we created this site for our customers!” or, “Hey, look, I let my 10-year-old nephew design my site. Good luck finding the information you need!”
